objective: To investigate the nutritional status of patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma(NPC) receiving induction chemotherapy combined concurrent chemoradiotherapy. Method: 117 primary treated nasopharyngeal patients are included and investigated with Scored Patient-Generated Subjective Global Assessment (PG-SGA) during the treatment and follow-up. Hematological examinations are checked at the same time to uncover the patients’ nutritional status. Result: The reducing rate of hemoglobin and prealbumin level of patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma increase statistically when receiving induction chemotherapy combined concurrent chemoradiotherapy, and recover slowly then. Subjective Global Assessment is improved slightly after induction chemotherapy and worsen significantly when receiving concurrent chemoradiotherapy, then recover slowly in the next 12 months. Conclusion: The serum nutritional status and Subjective Global Assessment of NPC patients receiving induction chemotherapy combined concurrent chemoradiotherapy are influenced significantly. More attentions should be focused on the nutritional status, furthermore, individualized dietary counseling and active nutritional support treatments are needed.
